【Seoul】Ihwa Mural Village 이화 벽화마을🖼

The local Public Art Committee carried out the Naksan Project in 2006 to improve the local environment of Ihwa Village. Approximately 60 artists painted walls and installed artworks for the project.

So before we went to the mural village we actually went to eat our “brunch” first at Palsaik Samgyeopsal 😁😂😁😂

😋【South Korea】My Recommended Restaurants you must go and visit! 😋

After eating, we then started to walk over to the Mural village. We actually went the longer way, because we were using Google Map, and it’s pretty much useless if you are in South Korea, because it doesn’t show the smaller roads.

It’s a good thing that we had lunch first because you will be walking for a quite a lot!

This is the route that Miss Wai Ting took which is slightly different to the one suggested by Naver Map (Miss Wai Ting took the long way at the beginning🙈).

Finally on the right track…

Once you get to the end of the road, turn left and you will begin to see some of the murals 👇

Once you get to this crossroad, turn left and keep walking til you get to a 3-way crossroad and turn right.

As you go up the slope, you should see some brown pots on the roof. Just keep going up the road (the one with the silver car coming out)

Do note that this slope is actually really steep, so be prepared. Also look out for incoming cars and motobikes!🏍

Once you get to the top, you will see a park on the left and a map on the right hand side showing you the locations of the popular artworks.

😢😢 Because of the growing popularity among tourists, there have been some conflicts among local residents and the tourists, leading to some of the artwork being removed (number 3 and 8👆). 😢😢

As you keep walking, you will start to see more and more artworks…

We then saw an ahjussi at the car park entrance waving at us to go over to him. Turns out he was asking whether we are here for the mural village and we said yes. So he showed us a map, and we asked can we have one… but turns out that’s his only one and so he told us to take a pic of it 😂😂 hahaha

He also have a map in several different languages too

After saying thank you to the ahjussi, we then carried on with our walk…

Turn right and keep going

Artworks that have been removed:

This artwork has also been removed

Luckily the artwork opposite is still here.

As you keep walking, you will eventually reach another popular spot…

The angel wings are still here, however the flower artwork on the steps have been removed😢. See images below:

🔇When visiting the mural village, please remember to keep quiet and respect the local residents❗

Keep walking and you will eventually find the avengers!

Miss Wai Ting then went back to the steps originally with the flowers, and walked right up, because there are a few more artworks!

Including this house:

If you have seen the Korean drama “Doctors”, then you might recognize this as Park Shin Hye’s character house!screenshot-346
